The Indian national team was divided into the Kohli group and the Rohit group. The relationship between the two became so strained that the then head coach Ravi Shastri requested to resolve the conflict. This is the claim of the team's former fielding coach R Sridhar. In a book written by himself, he said that the fight between these two stars would affect the team as well.
In the last 10 years, the Indian national cricket team has not been lucky enough to touch the title in the ICC event. Entering almost every tournament as a favorite, accompanied by disappointment. Neither Virat Kohli nor Rohit Sharma could win the Man in Blue title.
Rumor has it that the internal conflict in the team is one of the reasons behind the continuous failure of the Indian team. Rohit-Kohli's strained personal relationship has fueled rumors at various times. The former fielding coach of the team AR Sridhar has bombed these two star cricketers.
In his book 'Beyond Coaching', he claimed that Rohit-Kohli's conflict affected the performance of the entire team. Even in Team India's dressing room, groupings formed.
Sridhar writes, 'At the end of the 2019 World Cup, the dressing room situation and the loss against New Zealand in the semi-final started getting a lot of negative news in the media. We were told that there was a split in the party called Rohit Group and Virat Group. Who have unfollowed each other on social media. If such a situation was allowed to continue, unrest within the party would increase.
Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri has to come forward to solve that conflict. He requested the two senior cricketers to resolve all the problems for the sake of the team.
In this regard, Sridhar wrote, 'Ten days after the end of the World Cup, we set foot in the United States to play the T20 series against the West Indies. On reaching there, Shastri first called Virat and Rohit to his room and said, if you want the good of Indian cricket, you have to stay together. Whatever happens on social media, doesn't matter. But since you are the two most senior players in the team, there is no option to stop them. I want you to leave them behind and take the team forward.
It is not sure whether the distance between Rohit-Kohli has decreased or not. However, the book claims, after Shastri's intervention, the split in the Indian team was reduced.
